Sometimes you invest a lot in some people and all at once are surprised by their progress. Each month I equip many leaders throughout Asia. Some I meet online, often monthly, just this last week I coached online with a South Asian leader who is training nearly 1,000 local church planters, advised a leader pursuing his master’s degree in theology, met with a training core group mobilizing more missionaries, and a group facilitating theological education among Converge missionaries. However, the best part of equipping leaders is when I can see them face-to-face in their own place. October was a surprising visit to two countries where I met many key leaders trying to multiply churches among least reached people. I usually travel with some of my Asia Impact Team (AIT) teammates but this time I was on my own.
Everywhere we have been in Asia there are more needs for transformational church leaders. There is always this shortage. We spend a lot of time coaching and mentoring them and training them in leadership and church planting. Each situation and leadership development is unique. Our AIT purpose is to come alongside local leaders and equip them for gospel movements among unreached people groups. The last Asian trip of 2024 was full of these surprises of more missionary leaders and church multipliers.
