October Updates and Prayer

FOCUS ON JAPAN – COVID, and Churches

  1. News from Japan is more encouraging as Covid emergency orders will probably end this week. Vaccinations are accelerating over 50% now.
  2. This month brings CPI Grace Week Japanese Online. John has been involved in the training for mentors and small group leaders. Pray as the sessions begin October 15th and run for 6 weeks. Some participants will request ongoing mentoring after the sessions end.
  3. Elaine and John continue to connect online for Bible studies, mentoring, and learning. John has at least four church planters and trainers he mentors regularly.

FOCUS ON ELAINE’S WORLD

PRAISE Elaine continues with Bible studies with Japanese and people in the US.

PRAISE Elaine started a successful Japanese cooking class as an outreach event. Seven ladies attended. Pray for its impact for God’s Kingdom.

PRAY as she begins to write devotionals. Hopefully the first new one in many years will be ready for our website in the next week.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR PRAYER

PRAY In one week we heard news of our key Japanese partner Dr. Akira Izuta’s passing and home going. Also about the same time a close Japanese friend passed away. Pray for their family and friends who are grieving.

PRAISE We have lined up another church to visit this fall. Pray for more opportunities.

PRAY We were encouraged in the process of finding a new “home church.” We have hit a snag and it seems 2 steps forward one step back.

PRAISE The Converge Mission cohort studying the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement has been very beneficial.

PRAY We are encouraged but we are still adjusting to living in the US and our new roles. Pray for our emotional, social, and spiritual lives.

PRAISE We are potentially adding some new AIT team members this fall. Pray for wisdom and discernment.
