Hiroshima

Hiroshima prompts so many different emotions and thoughts. A city of intersection of tragedy and triumph, science and soul-searching, mightiness versus morals, suffering and future hope. Hiroshima is a symbol of the inner conflicts between the two countries we love – Japan and the USA; and we are so thankful that former animosity of war has been transformed into a friendly partnership. The events of Hiroshima marked the final end of feudal Japan and marked the beginning of a new era.

John, for the first time, was in Hiroshima to participate in a significant event. He attended the Western Japan Missions Seminar where leaders from across denominations and from five prefectures (Yamaguchi, Hiroshima, Okayama, Shimane, Tottori) gather for vision, learning, research, training and encouraging ministry in this region of Japan.

CPI is becoming more engaged in this region as many are interested in evangelism and church planting ministry. I was privileged to travel with Pastor Makoto Fukuda, pastor of Grace City Church Tokyo, to develop connections with key leaders in this area. In September, CPI will return to Hiroshima with the First Steps in Church Planting seminar. This will be followed by Church Planting Next Steps in January when Pastor Fukuda will join us in the training.
