Pray Harder for God’s Intervention

There is a growing concern for radiation into the environment as they continue to lose progress in taming the nuclear power plants. Please pray. Dear Creator God of the universe please grant your divine wisdom to these very intelligent engineers and other dedicated workers. God we thank you for those many others who have come to advise and assist them in this crisis. God give them unity of purpose and clarity of action. Strengthen them…

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD’S SITUATION

Today Elaine went out through the neighborhood. Later we both went out through our neighborhood to prayer walk, talk to people, and scout out the effects of the greatest earthquake to hit our area. PHYSICAL DAMAGE We saw some damage to the roof of a local soba restaurant. Apparently they lost some traditional Japanese roofing tiles. In walking through a neighboring apartment complex we noticed large numbers of garbage bags with many broken dishes and…

The Earthquakes Local Affects

We are 240 miles from the epicenter and our area sustained little damage but we are very much affected here in Machida-city Tokyo. Tokyo has only sustained 6 deaths, our neighboring prefecture (state) Kanagawa has had only 3 deaths. Farther north in the Tokyo area, Chiba prefecture has had 15 deaths, Ibaraki has had 19 deaths. The true death toll in the affected areas of Fukushima, Miyagi, and Iwate are will not be known for…

More Quake Prayer Items (Mon)

1. Please pray for rescuers as the first 72 hours (3 days) are the most critical in finding people. That ends today. As you may have heard highly trained rescue teams from all over the world have been arriving. Encouraged as a military flight just went over my house, a cargo plane, and I know where it is going. Atsugi naval air station, about 5 miles from here, has been more busy than usual today.…

Christians Bring Relief

Christian Relief, Assistance, Support and Hope (CRASH) is a network supporting Christians to do relief work in Japan and around the world. CRASH equips and prepares churches and missions to be there to help their communities when disasters strike and coordinates Christian volunteers to work with local ministries in the event of a…

One pastor shares his heart for his community and Christ’s church in the area devastated by this earthquake and tsunami. His Fukushima prefecture has 145 churches and 2,658 weekly worshippers for over 2,000,000 people. Pastor Akira Sato is a Conservative Baptist Pastor in a rural areas near Fukushima city and wrote a letter yesterday…

Rolling Power Blackouts

We found out tonight that the Prime Minister of Japan has made an announcement that throughout the Tokyo area there will be rolling electrical blackouts to prevent a total blackout throughout the region. We will be without power for three hours each day. Everyone will have power from 10pm to 6:20 am. Elaine and I are prepared for this, we have earthquake preparation items and we tent camp every summer so we have camping lamps,…

Sunday Update

Sunday March 13 PM Thank you all for your concerns and prayers for our welfare and the welfare of Japan. As we have reported we are fine, all our CW Japan team is well, and our partnering Rengo churches report things are ok. We have yet to hear of anyone personally we know injured by this quake. Information is still very sketchy but with the exception on one church we have not heard of any…
