February 2016 –Japan Ministry Spotlights and Prayer

16-01-29 CBS ChapelThis month is full of transitions LEAVING ministry behind in Japan for a bit and ARRIVING in the US for a temporary Home Assignment to visit many of you.

  • The Higashi Kurume Tokyo missionary residence and guesthouse is nearing completion. This rebuilding project is scheduled to be completed on February 28th and we hope to soon have the guesthouse ready.
  • We just completed a Gospel Renewal Discipling Cohort and hope to organize one to start in April with 8-10 people. We are grateful for the partnership between Serge and CPI.
  • We are winding up outreach classes, Bible studies, and spiritual mentoring this month.

2016 US Tour LogoFAQ: When and where do you plan on being in the States?

We arrive in the US on March 3rd. We plan to return to Japan after New Year’s 2017.  Our “home base” will be near our families in Rockford, Illinois. We will be making several long trips to Colorado-Wyoming, Ohio – Pennsylvania, and shorter trips to Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri and Indiana. 35 Churches are considering their schedules right now regarding when we would come. Our schedules are set for March and May (and shortly for April).

GOD ANSWERED

  1. In spite of a raspy voice, John preached on 1/31 at the Nerima Baptist Church and lead a training session.
  2. John had significant meetings in January with leaders from the Rengo, the 6th Japan Congress on Evangelism, and JEMA. John also spoke to the students at a seminary in Nagoya. Elaine in January visited Kansai Christian School and in our home led several classes and Bible studies.

PRAYER PARTNER SPOTLIGHTS

  1. Blessings for the CPI Leadership Team retreat, Feb 2-3. Also pray for the nearly 10 CPI seminars that are currently planned for 2016.
  2. God’s message for the Special Valentine’s dinner party for the 3 couples in the Agape Group on Feb 14th.
  3. Pray for our preparations to leave for the States on March 3rd and for our US Tour schedule.
  4. Pray for the Higashi Kurume missionary residence to be completed safely and on time by 2/28.
