August – September Prayer

FOCUS ON A NEW SEASON

We think most of you have heard about John’s next season of ministry. After employment with Converge for 42 years as of October 31, 2026, I will become a high-capacity volunteer with the Converge Asia Impact Team to continue these three above projects. I am glad that I am not just stopping or retiring from ministry, but I will continue to work in several roles for several more years. Please continue to pray for this next transition.

I will not need support for a paycheck, but I will continue to need work funds, especially for travel to Asia to continue these key projects. For those who have not contributed to my financial support would you consider praying about it? Your one-time gifts or your continual gifts are both welcome. We ask regular supporters to at least continue their support my work fund account at Converge ( www.Converge.org/give) through the end of this year. For current supporters, give to the same account (49651), and send your gifts in the same manner and I will receive it. There are no changes. Thank you so much for your prayers and your continued support for our ministry in wider Asia. 

FOCUS ON PRAYER

  1. In Asia it is very hot. In fact, last month Japan invented a new word for a cruelly hot day (kokoshobi). Pray for John as he travels in Japan and in Thailand through his busy schedule. Also pray as school starts and grandkids are in classes and volleyball and football. As John will be in Asia Elaine will have to handle this solo for several weeks.
  2. Thanks be to God for our visit to the Crosspoint church in Rockford on August 9th. We have a 40-year history with this church and even lived next door (Beth was married at Crosspoint). We enjoyed the special missions service and a well-attended home meeting in the afternoon. They are our nearest Converge church.
  3. We have just days before school starts and many of our regular Life Groups and Bible studies start back up. Pray that we make good use of this time before the workload increases.
  4. Elaine is facilitating an adult Bible class on the book of Jonah through the end of August. Attendance has been good. Continue to pray that participants would live a life of Grace toward others.
  5. Continue to pray for our coaching and mentoring of leaders from various places as well as our teaching and writing ministries that are ongoing.
