September seemed like a revolving door of visitors at our home in Illinois. John’s college friend from campus crusade dropped by, then a Japanese church planter, at that time Phil and Katie Tsai, new missionaries to Japan, joined us in mobilizing for outreach to Japan, then we had our local small group over. John is off to Asia this month to flip the script and meet with people in South Asia and Japan (see below). Every month we have a steady pulse of people crisscrossing our lives in person or online all for the Kingdom of Christ.
FOCUS ON SOUTH ASIA
This month, John will be teaching to our partners a doctoral course on Mission: God, You and All Peoples. This is an extension of the mission curriculum development for a whole network of churches. It will be used in these churches for sermons, Bible studies, and mission teams. Phu will be in the area helping churches devastated by social unrest. Later we will meet together with the mission team leaders for an update from our August mission development meetings. Pray for travel, immigration issues, effective teaching, and people being envisioned for mission.
FOCUS ON FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Over the summer our financial support dropped from 95% to now 91%, which is cause for concern. We ask you FIRST to pray about our financial need and ask God to turn it around. Second, check to make sure any commitments are up to date. Third, consider a one-time special gift either now or later this year. These often offset some of the travel costs. FOCUS ON JAPAN
John was again invited to attend the two-day Japan Church Multiplication National Roundtable. Between 20-40 key national leaders will consider how to more effectively strategize for more multiplying churches throughout Japan. Pray that God would give wisdom, bold faith, a spirit of collaboration, and a positive atmosphere glorifying to Christ and his Kingdom.
