What do the Mehns do?

  • Evangelize Japanese
  • Plant Churches
  • Develop Leaders

1.  Evangelizing the Unreached Urban Masses in Japan.

Elaine has outreach classes to women in our neighborhood and Bible studies to share Jesus with Japanese.  John also has several contacts with men for evangelism and has Bible studies with them. Less than 1% of Japanese are Christian.

2.  Directing the Church Planting Institute (CPI).

John conducts training, develops regional networks, and coaches church planters which develop leadership which plant and grow movements of multiplying gospel-driven churches.  Elaine works with the womens ministry in CPI. CPI has had some of the largest church planting conferences in the history of Japan.

3.  Mobilizing and Mentoring for Spiritual Renewal.

Both Elaine and John train in spiritual renewal through CPI. Elaine mentors women missionaries and Japanese pastor’s wives in spiritual formation. John and Elaine often mentor one couple together.

4.  Leading the work of Converge Worldwide (BGC), Japan Team.

John’s primary roles are leading the mission and launching new church planting ministries.  John and Elaine develop, coach, and care for our field staff of ten missionaries.

5.  Partnering with a Growing Japanese Denomination (the Rengo)

John’s primary roles are leadership in evangelism and church planting, developing regional LEAD Teams, training in churches, preaching and coaching pastors and leaders.  Elaine works with coaching groups for Japanese women in ministry (LeadNet groups).
